2 meals, 3 Dramamine, 4 Movies and 15.5 hours on a plane...

Lei Ho!! (hello in Cantonese)
We made it! After 15 and a half hours on the plane, we were very happy to see land again. Luckily Justin negotiated for exit aisle seats, so we had plenty of leg room. We arrived at the Hong Kong airport, known to be the largest structure of concrete in the world, around 4:30pm on May 4th (that is 3:30am May 4th CST). The airport is pretty much on it's own island, connected to the island of Hong Kong. It is 75 degrees and 80% humidity - mostly foggy because there is so much moisture in the air.
After collecting our luggage, all 30+ of us piled onto the bus to go to the hotel. We passed by Hong Kong Disneyworld and over the worlds longest suspension bridge, 3.2 mi, en route to the hotel. My first observation was that Hong Kong seemed mountainous with high rise apartments everywhere. I guess with almost 7 million people habitating only 425 square acres of space, up is the only way to go. While we saw lots of trees growing on the sides of the mountains, really I have not seen a blade of grass yet. Most of Hong Kong is concrete or rock.
Our hotel room is nice, but very small. Same for the rest of the hotel. There is not a lot of extra spacious room in any conference room or even the lobby. It is very simple for being one of the nicest hotels here.
A few of us took it upon ourselves to walk around and check out the city. A few things we noted were:
Cars drive on the left side of the road, the driver sits on the right side of the car and they do not neccessarily slow down for pedistrians.
All busses are double decker buses.
Even the 100's of boys/men playing soccer was playing on green-colored cement!
We ended the evening with a few beer's at a local bar just a block down from our hotel. We had a fun time getting to know the other MBA students and Justin even made a few new friends!!

Glad you had a good flight. Justin looks right at home bucket of beer and new friends. the 435 acres confuses me. Is that the size of the island of the city of Hong Kong? What is the total size of the country? Have fun.

There are several islands associated with Hong Kong, but the city of Hong Kong itself is on 425 square feet. Other cities are Kowloon, New Terratories, etc..
